Inauguración Seminario Internacional

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR Agroecology and Food Sovereignty

Addressing topics that affect countries at regional and national in this case ¨ food sovereignty and agroecology in Guatemala, biodiversification in the agroecosystem and stability, participatory development of indicators of transition agroecology, agricultural ecology and rural development, agricultural ecology and food sovereignty and limiting potential for organic certification, agro ecology, climate change, the prices of food and oil crisis, agro ecology from theory to practice, seed bank, agroecology contributions to sustainability agenda farmer to farmer. ¨

Convened by CEIBA Association, National Network for the Defence of Food Sovereignty in Guatemala-REDSAG-Governing Institutions Development-Guatemala-COINDE, Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research, Faculty of Agronomy of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, University of San Carlos de Guatemala.


The inauguration was led with words of welcome from the organizers Mr. Mario Godinez, Ronnie Palacios-REDSAG coordinator-general coordinator Natalia CEIBA Atz and COINDE president, Francisco Vásquez dean of the college of agriculture of the USAC .

The keynote address was by Guatemala with the participation of Manuel Uz, agroecological San Martin Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango. The presenter expressed that ¨ gave details of the integrated farm, and what we do on the farm is an integral activity at the family level. And the proposal is one approach is to be a self-sustaining farm that is self-financing, raising the development of the four main components to achieve our objective is a social component, livestock, agriculture for the past the environmental component, this includes the matter of food and respect food sovereignty at the end of being all part of a cycle, this has to do with ensuring a valuable and agro-ecology, organic agriculture, food sovereignty and the whole environmental issue, these spaces serve to proposals and begin to applicable ·

The activity has a middle part, which ended with field trips and rural experiences, places agroecological production working as San Martin Jilotepeque Chimaltenango and Santa Maria on board Solola.
